1080p Video Recording DSLRs Are Here

Probably one of the most anticipated cameras of the year (or last couple years), Canon has finally made the 5D Mark II official. At an expected street price of $2699, it looks like Canon is trying to make up for some lost ground. THe 5D boasts a whopping 21MP sensor based on the 1Ds Mark III. This gives it a significant resolution advantage over the D700, and with 1080p video recording (!) and ISO from 100-6400 (or 50-25600 expanded), they have the features advantage over Sony’s recently announced 24MP A900. The 1080p video recording is getting a lot of people excited.
This looks like an amazing new camera, especially 21MP at ISO 6400 and up. Of course, the proof is in the pictures, and we haven’t had the chance to look at any real deep sample shots yet. Personally I really want to see some sample shots at high-ISO (I love shots I’ve seen come out of the 1Ds3). I’m a Nikon fan myself, but I used Canons in my point-and-shoot days and have a lot of respect for the quality of their products. Who knows, maybe someday I might make the leap back. Nikon better impress me with their 2009 offerings!
